Actor reflects on the creative fulfilment and box-office triumph of Nolan’s mythological epic.

Christopher Nolan’s latest cinematic venture, The Odyssey, has already begun making waves worldwide, and actor Tom Holland is among those most deeply moved by the experience. Marking the film’s release, Holland shared a heartfelt note on social media, describing the project as one of the most rewarding chapters of his career.

The 29-year-old star, best known for his portrayal of Spider-Man, plays Telemachus, the son of Odysseus and Penelope. In his message, Holland expressed gratitude to the cast and crew, and especially to Nolan and producer Emma Thomas, for entrusting him with what he called “the opportunity of a lifetime.” He reflected on the dual nature of the project, noting that it was both a creative challenge and a chance to form lasting bonds with remarkable people.

“There are films that test you artistically and others where you meet extraordinary individuals. The Odyssey is both,” Holland wrote, emphasizing how the production gave him memories and lessons he will cherish for years. He praised his co-stars for their support during the demanding shoot and acknowledged the crew’s dedication in bringing Nolan’s ambitious vision to life.

Holland concluded his note by urging audiences to experience the film in premium formats, particularly IMAX, to appreciate its scale fully. “The Odyssey is out now! Watch it on the biggest screen possible and enjoy every format you can,” he encouraged.

The film’s release has been met with strong box office numbers in India. According to early trade estimates, The Odyssey grossed ₹20.76 crore on its opening day, with a net collection of ₹17.40 crore. Playing across more than 8,400 shows nationwide, the film recorded nearly 49 percent occupancy, driven largely by demand for IMAX screenings.

Directed by Nolan, the mythological epic adapts Homer’s legendary poem, chronicling Odysseus’ decade-long journey home after the fall of Troy. The ensemble cast includes Matt Damon as Odysseus, alongside Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, and Robert Pattinson. Following Nolan’s Oscar-winning Oppenheimer (2023), The Odyssey represents his most ambitious project yet, blending ancient storytelling with modern cinematic spectacle.

For Holland, the film is more than just another role, it is a defining moment in his career, one that he describes as both creatively fulfilling and personally unforgettable. With audiences flocking to theatres, The Odyssey is poised to become another landmark in Nolan’s storied filmography.
