A Delhi couple suffered burn injuries after hydrogen balloons exploded.
The incident’s video, which has since gone viral, was posted on Instagram by the couple but later deleted amid backlash. In the now-viral video, the couple walks in surrounded by hydrogen balloons when someone unintentionally aims one of the colour guns upward. The heat from the gun reacts with the balloons, triggering a small blast. The couple wrote, as reported by a leading portal, “We never imagined the most special day of our lives would take such a drastic turn. We’re sharing this reel to create awareness about how dangerous these ‘viral ideas’ can turn when safety is compromised. On a day we were supposed to look our best, we were instead layering concealer to hide injuries, chopping our burnt hair, and colouring it to mask the damage.”
More on the uneventful day for the Delhi couple.
The couple explained that their original plan was to release the hydrogen balloons first, followed by the colour guns during the entry. But “in the chaos of the moment, someone accidentally pointed a colour gun at the balloons.” However, the celebrations continued. “As they say, the show must go on. And it did. Despite the hiccups, we still managed to have the time of our lives at the varmala. It wasn’t perfect, but it was still the most beautiful day of our lives,” they wrote in the now-deleted post. They said, “We hope our experience becomes a reminder for everyone to exercise caution and prioritise safety over trends; no celebration is worth risking lives.”

Netizens react to the viral video.
One user reacted, “That’s why you need intelligence for copying. Hope this serves as a lesson to other weak minds who get influenced by stupidity. Never play with chemicals or electricity or anything beyond your realm of understanding.” Another noted, “Somebody used a sparkle gun behind, which ignited it. Such an unsafe toy to use in a crowd. People who use it normally lack common sense.” A third person wrote, “Skipped high school science. Hydrogen is highly flammable. Law requires Helium. An inert gas. But who cares? This is India.”
