Air India Flight 126 was over Greenland on March 5 when 11 out of 12 toilets got clogged. As per news agency ANI, the flight passengers had to return to Chicago after the pilot was forced to make an emergency U-turn, reportedly due to clogged toilets. The news agency cited a spokesperson saying alternative arrangements were made for passengers stuck on the flight for 10 hours. The airline said, “AI126, operating Chicago to Delhi on 6 March 2025, air-returned to Chicago due to a technical issue. Upon landing in Chicago, all passengers and crew disembarked normally and were provided with accommodation to minimise inconvenience. Alternative arrangements are being made to fly the passengers to their destination.”

One social media user wrote, “It’s not uncommon for airplane toilets to get clogged, with the issue typically bubbling up when passengers flush unauthorised items down the pipes. Even just one or two clogged toilets is enough to trigger a flight crew to turn the plane around and land due to the limited number of lavatories available.” Air India on the matter gave a statement, as reported by New York Post, “Upon landing at Chicago, all passengers and crew disembarked normally and have been provided with accommodation to minimise inconvenience.”
