The man was deeply shaken after an emotional encounter with a Zomato delivery agent.
A post has been doing the rounds on the internet recently, in which a Delhi man is deeply shaken after an emotional encounter with a Zomato delivery agent. The latter spoke about his life’s challenges, which encouraged the Delhi man to urge the Zomato CEO to provide upskilling programmes and initiatives for delivery agents.
The Delhi man urges Deepinder Goyal, Zomato’s CEO, to start upskilling initiatives for delivery agents.
A Delhi professional, Himanshu Bohra, recently urged Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal to introduce initiatives like upskilling programmes, scholarships, or easy loans for delivery executives after his heartfelt encounter with an agent who delivered food to him.
The man wrote a lengthy, now viral post on LinkedIn.
Bohra explained in his lengthy LinkedIn post that he was impacted after meeting Shiva Sarkar, a young delivery guy in his twenties, who is the breadwinner of his family after his father passed away. He titled the post as “The Story of Shiva Sarkar.” He recounted how, one night after finishing work at 3 am, he placed a food order through Zomato. When the doorbell rang, he opened it to find Shiva Sarkar, who delivered his meal with a warm smile. However, Bohra couldn’t help but notice “a heaviness and a story untold.” He then offered him water and asked how he was doing. The young delivery agent opened up about his hardships. After his father’s death, he had to leave school in Class 8 to help support his family. Now, he works long hours as a delivery executive to fund his sister’s wedding.

Zomato responded to the post with, “Hey Himanshu, thanks for bringing this to our attention. This looks quite inspirational, and we are proud of our delivery universe. If possible, kindly help us with the order ID via a private message so that we can express your appreciation to our delivery partner.”
