Artificial Intelligence (AI) has taken over almost all industries. However, it is something people have been misusing day after day in many cases. A recent viral post on X highlighted exactly that, after a SwiggyInstamart customer allegedly used AI to generate the image of a damaged product and claim a refund. The post described how someone had ordered a tray of eggs through Instamart. The post read, “Someone ordered eggs on Instamart and only one came cracked. Instead of just reporting it, they opened Gemini Nano and literally typed: apply more cracks.”
The customer allegedly used Google’s Gemini Nano to create fake broken eggs.
Using the AI platform, the customer apparently asked the model to “Apply more cracks,” and within minutes received a hyper-realistic image of an entire tray of broken eggs, not just one. The AI-altered photo was then sent to Instamart’s support team. According to screenshots shared in the post, the platform accepted the image as proof and immediately approved a refund of ₹245. “Support took one look at the proof, processed a full refund, and moved on,” the post stated, underscoring how easily refund systems can be manipulated in the age of AI.

Netizens react to the viral post.
One user reacted, “What else can you expect from a low trust society? No wonder why everyone in the world hates us, even we hate our own.” Another expressed, “Just a low trust society, trying to scam a company bcz they feel they are entitled to refunds.” A third person wrote, “This is why we can never be a developed nation where people leave goods on the road, buyers pick, keep money and leave.” One more commented, “People have to understand that these Q ecommerce companies deduct money from the delivery partner whenever a customer files a complaint. And here this person made a false complaint. That’s so evil.”
