A man slams a fellow Indian for loudly talking on the phone at Abu Dhabi airport.

In a video clip, Instagram user Ankush captured an Indian man speaking loudly on his phone while sitting in the bar area. Despite being asked by the bartender to lower his voice, the man continued speaking at the same high pitch and volume. Thus, Ankush expressed frustration over the lack of civic sense among Indians. He also noted that he has encountered similar situations highlighting a general insensitivity in public spaces. He even compared the behaviour of Indians with that of people from countries like the US and South Korea, where loud conversations in public are uncommon.

What did Ankush write about the issue on Instagram?

He wrote, “What do you think about people who talk loudly on their phones in public spaces without considering those around them? I have to admit, I might be guilty of this too. Why do we do it? Here’s a quick rant about someone in an airport lounge who just wouldn’t lower their voice. The bartender has told him on two occasions already…to lower his volume. We have absolutely zero civic sense.”

One user wrote, “You haven’t been on a London bus then, have you .. pretty embarrassing the way my fellow Indian brothers and sisters talk loudly and are constantly on a video call.” Another user wrote, “Finally, someone brings up the most uncomfortable and embarrassing reality! Totally unacceptable behaviour!” A third user commented, “Insane that he’s sitting quite far away from you and still I can sometimes hear him louder than your own voice.”
