The 14-year-old cricketing star recently became the recipient of the Prime Minister’s National Award for Children, the Pradhan MantriRashtriyaBalPuruskar.
VaibhavSuryavanshi, 14, who has been consistently breaking records and performing incredibly on the field as a young cricketing star, has earned another honour. Still, three months short of his 15th birthday, he was named a recipient of the Prime Minister’s National Award for Children, the Pradhan MantriRashtriyaBalPuruskar.
VaibhavSuryavanshi’s meteoric rise as one of the youngest Indian cricketers.
No other cricketer has ever received this honour before. 14-year-old VaibhavSuryavanshi becomes the first cricketer to receive it. He now sits among names like chess stars R Praggnanandhaa and R Vaishali, only now underlining how extraordinary his rise has been thus far. Not just that, in 2025, no other cricketer was searched for more on Google. In the recent Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Arunachal Pradesh, Vaibhav produced an incredible innings. He smashed 190 off just 84 balls, striking at 226.19 with 16 fours and 15 sixes. That knock made him the youngest player in the history of List A cricket to score a century, breaking a 39-year-old world record previously held by Pakistan’s ZahoorElahi.
VaibhavSuryavanshi receives the country’s highest civilian honour for achievers aged 5-18.
VaibhavSuryavanshi being awarded the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award is the greatest testament to his hard work and talent. This honour, bestowed by President DroupadiMurmu, reflects the nation’s hopes. His status was further solidified when he met PM Modi, making it clear that Vaibhav is no longer just an emerging player but a symbol of national pride. Notably, he became the first cricketer to receive this award.
At the age of 12, he had become the youngest 1st class cricketer by making his debut in the Ranji Trophy. He has also consistently performed brilliantly at the Under-19 level, whether it was a quick century against Australia or a crucial innings in the Asia Cup.
