WhatsApp, one of the most used instant messaging apps worldwide, has also remained a platform where misinformation easily spreads. In all these years, the company has taken several measures in the right direction to curb fake images and messages; however, the rise of fake images generated using AI is once again making rounds on the platform. To tackle this issue, WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will help users quickly check the authenticity of an image. This will make it easy to see if it has been tampered with without leaving the app.

A recent version of WhatsApp beta for Android brings a new feature called Search on Web, which will help users reverse image searches using Google Lens. Users can find the new option by tapping on the image they want to search on WhatsApp and pressing the three-dot button at the top right. This eliminates the need to open a browser, launch Google Lens, and upload the image they want to search. The new feature is limited to the beta and available only to a few testers.
