In IPL 2026, Punjab Kings suffered a heartbreaking elimination in the tournament; captainShreyasIyer’s sister made a video titled “Lo DittaEk Point,” which attracted massive hate.
In IPL 2026, one team that looked promising from the start to reach the finals was the Punjab Kings (PBKS). However, the franchise couldn’t make it to the playoff race this season and were eliminated from the tournament. Captain ShreyasIyer’s sister, ShrestaIyer, made a fun reel, but it attracted massive hate on social media. Shresta, a professional dancer and choreographer, has now reacted to the same.
“The trolls didn’t stop at me,” said ShrestaIyer.
Dressed in a Punjab Kings jersey, Shresta jokingly in her fun reel said, “SaadePunjabiyan da dilvaddahundaae… Lo dittaek point,” loosely translating to, “We Punjabis are big-hearted, so we gave you one point.” The clip was intended as friendly cricket banter, but it quickly went viral for the wrong reasons. Social media users began heavily trolling her, forcing her to eventually delete the video. As the Punjab Kings’ IPL campaign began falling apart after a strong start, the criticism directed at Shresta intensified online. The team, once unbeaten in its first seven matches, went on to lose six games in a row and ultimately failed to qualify for the playoffs. Following the team’s elimination, Shresta addressed the controversy in a two-part video message, in which she opened up about the emotional impact of the trolling. “The motive of the reel was just fun banter,” she explained. “I wasn’t spreading hate or insulting anyone. I respect every cricketer because my brother is a cricketer.” However, according to her, the backlash soon became deeply personal. She claimed that trolls not only abused her online but also contacted her workplace, harassed her colleagues, students, and even targeted her family. “It’s okay to support your team passionately,” she said, “but dragging families into it is not right.”
Standing by her brother through wins and losses.
Despite Punjab Kings’ disappointing end to the season, Shresta made it clear that her support for her brother remains unchanged. “He wins or loses, I’ll always celebrate him,” she said. Punjab Kings ended their campaign on a positive note with a seven-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants, powered by a stunning unbeaten century from ShreyasIyer. But the win came too late, as the team finished fifth on the points table with 15 points from 14 matches. The incident has once again highlighted the darker side of modern sports fandom, where online trolling often spills beyond the players and onto their families, many of whom are simply expressing support in their own way.
