Family Celebrates 15-Year-Old’s First India Call-Up
The cricket world witnessed a historic moment asa young boy, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, a 15-year-old batting sensation from Bihar, earned his maiden call-up to the Indian T20 squad for the upcoming tours of Ireland and England. Vaibhav has broken the record of being the youngest to be selected for the national team overstepping the great Sachin Tendulkar at just 15 years and 71 days.
Vaibhav hails from Tajpur in Samastipur district, Bihar. Vaibhav’s journey has been marked by relentless dedication and extraordinary talent. His father, Sanjeev Sooryavanshi, expressed immense pride, saying that years of hard work have finally borne fruit. “Getting an opportunity to play for the country is a huge achievement. My wish stands fulfilled today,” he remarked, while thanking the selectors for their faith in his son.
The joy was shared across the family. His grandmother, Usha Singh, described the moment as one of “sheer happiness.” At the same time, his uncle, Rajeev Sooryavanshi, noted that the youngster’s selection has sparked excitement not only within their household but also among cricket fans across the nation. “What else can we ask for? This is a historic achievement,” he said.
Vaibhav maiden call up for the senior team was much anticipated given the powerful performance in the recently concluded IPL where he scored 776 runs for Rajasthan Royals, including a century and five half-centuries, at a strike rate of 237.30. His consistency and fearless stroke play earned him the coveted Orange Cap, cementing his reputation as one of the brightest prospects in Indian cricket.
India will play two T20 internationals against Ireland on June 26 and 28, followed by a five-match series against England from July 1 to 11. All eyes will now be on the teenage prodigy as he steps onto the international stage, carrying with him the hopes of his family, his state, and a cricket-loving nation.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s story is more than just statistics—it is a testament to perseverance, youthful ambition, and the power of dreams.
