Gautam Gambhir was unable to hold back his laughter as Ravindra Jadeja performed Kuldeep Yadav’s role to excellence.

A comic video of India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja emulating his teammate Kuldeep Yadav’s bowling action caught the camera’s attention on Day 2 of the three-day warm-up match against Sri Lanka Cricket XI in Colombo. What added to the incident’s fun was the response from India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir.

The former India player failed to hold back his laughter as Jadeja accomplished Kuldeep’s role to perfection. “There you go, Ravindra Jadeja. He is imitating Kuldeep Yadav. I am telling you that. See the reaction, see the face, the expression. That is how he (Kuldeep) comes into the run-up,” said the commentator.

Devdutt Padikkal assured his spot in India’s playing XI for the opening Test with a stylish century on the second day of the warm-up match against Sri Lanka Cricket XI. At the same time, seasoned Rishabh Pant and his substitute Dhruv Jurel failed to make the most of favourable batting conditions.

At the end of the second day, India finished their first innings at 357/6 in 90 overs. Padikkal’s artistic unbeaten 142 and a gritty 63 (retired out) by expert Ravindra Jadeja were the highlights, while Manav Suthar (41) also impressed with the bat on his maiden overseas assignment.

The pitch had become much easier to bat on, and Padikkal took full advantage, hitting 18 delectable boundaries to show that he is ready to reclaim his rightful place now that first-choice No. 3 batter Sai Sudharsan has been ruled out of the series after failing to recuperate in time from his big-toe wound.

But Manav Suthar, who is amazing everyone with his heart and commitment, combined with Jadeja, added 76 runs to steady the ship.

On the way to the end, Padikkal once again came out to bat and added four further boundaries to his tally of 14 in the company of Saransh Jain 22 retired out.
