Virat Kohli informs BCCI of his availability for Sri Lanka ODIs

As per a report, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma may return to the Indian ODI team during the Sri Lanka series.

It is good news for all the fans of GOATS, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who are said to return to the Indian ODI team during the Sri Lanka Series, as per a report. Several news articles have been floating about players’ selection for the upcoming series since the last couple of days. This tour holds importance as it marks the beginning of Gautam Gambhir’s tenure as the new Head Coach for Team India, succeeding Rahul Dravid. Initially, it was said Kohli and Sharma would be rested, but now it is reported they are ready to roll in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.

According to a report in Indian Express, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have confirmed their availability for the IND vs SL series. The senior cricketers have agreed to participate in the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, which will be Gautam Gambhir’s first assignment as head coach.

Suryakumar Yadav as the new captain.

The report also suggested that BCCI’s selection committeehas decided to let Suryakumar Yadav (SKY) lead the Indian T20I Team for the three-match series against Sri Lanka. Hardik Pandya’s name also surfaced for the position, but he will have to wait for the promotion as there were reportedly concerns over his fitness.

SKY to lead till 2026?

The Indian Express report also suggested that the selection committee won’t hesitate to replace SKY as captain if he fails to meet expectations. The BCCI, however, envisions him leading the T20I team in the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
