Harbhajan Singh slams Pakistan’s ShaheenAfridi and Haris Rauf for displaying a weak mentality.
Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh reacted to the on-field antics displayed by Pakistan players ShaheenAfridi and Haris Rauf in the match against India played in the Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai. India has defeated Pakistan in both matches played thus far between the two arch rivals, and Harbhajan feels that a lack of leadership and responsibility from Pakistan’s more experienced members has harmed them the most.
Harbhajan Singh said that India was far ahead of Pakistan.
Cricket is a sport that emphasises sportsmanship and leadership, but Pakistan opted to resort to dark arts and mental games, lacking the prerequisite quality of head-on play against India, resulting in their defeat both times. Speaking to Sports Today, Harbhajan Singh said, “If talks were to win the game, I think they would have won. But it was between bat and ball, and I think that’s where India were far, far ahead of Pakistan.”
Harbhajan Singh shuts Pakistani players ShaheenAfridi and Haris Rauf.
Being critical of ShaheenAfridi and Haris Rauf, particularly, Harbhajan said, “Their senior bowlers like Haris or Shaheen Shah Afridi, they went for plenty. They couldn’t get a single wicket in the first six overs. They are the most experienced players,” explained Harbhajan. “So if your experienced players are only shouting and talking, and not able to deliver with the ball or bat, you’ll see the results they are getting.” Haris Rauf has spent the second innings in Dubai taunting the Indian fans in the crowd and was even embroiled in a series of spats with Abhishek and Gill.
Harbhajan Singh remained unbothered by what was being said on the field, stating it was irrelevant as long as India continued to win matches. “Let them talk, we will talk with the bat and ball, and we will answer when required the best,” concluded the Indian spin bowling great.
