Balancing a full-time office job with bike taxi rides, one man’s story reflects the unseen struggles of India’s working class.

A chance encounter in Delhi-NCR has struck a chord online, shedding light on the extraordinary resilience of everyday workers. Social media user Shikhar recently shared his experience with a Rapido driver whose routine left him humbled and reflective.

Running late one morning, Shikhar booked a bike taxi instead of his usual metro ride. The driver arrived within minutes but kept urging him to hurry. Curious, Shikhar asked why there was a rush. The rider’s reply was simple yet startling: he was late for his office job. That revelation opened the door to a story of grit and sacrifice.

The man explained that he holds a regular job with a monthly salary of ₹20,000. Yet, with a wife, three children, and one child requiring lifelong medical care, his earnings fall short. To bridge the gap, he drives Rapido from 6 am to 9 am, then heads to his office at 10. After finishing his shift around 6:30 pm, he resumed riding until nearly 11 at night. For the past eight months, he has slept no more than five hours a day. “Ab bhagwan ki yeh marzihaitohyahisahi,” he said with a smile, a quiet acceptance of his reality.

What struck Shikhar most was the driver’s demeanor. Despite the crushing schedule and financial strain, he spoke without bitterness. His calmness and kindness stood in sharp contrast to the complaints many of us voice over minor inconveniences. “Here I am grumbling about deadlines and traffic, while people like him carry burdens I can’t even imagine,” Shikhar reflected in his post.

The story quickly resonated online. Some users admired the rider’s perseverance, while others bluntly noted that “money solves all problems.” A few shared similar experiences of meeting drivers juggling studies or multiple jobs. The common thread was admiration for their resilience and the reminder of how privilege often closes our eyes to unseen struggles.

This Rapido rider’s journey is not unique,it mirrors the lives of countless workers across India who stretch themselves thin to provide for their families. His story is a testament to endurance, faith, and the quiet heroism of ordinary people who keep moving forward, even when life demands more than they can give.
