Nitin Nabin’s 65-member reshuffle blends seasoned leaders, rising faces, and stronger women’s representation.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), under its new president Nitin Nabin, has announced a sweeping reorganisation of its national team, unveiling a 65-member leadership structure that reflects both continuity and renewal. With an average age of 50, the team signals a deliberate attempt to balance experienced organisational figures with younger leaders, while also expanding the role of women and ensuring regional diversity.
One of the most notable aspects of the reshuffle is the inclusion of 12 women leaders, accounting for nearly one-fifth of the team. Prominent figures such as Vasundhara Raje, D Purandeswari, Rekha Verma, Varshaben Doshi, Bharati Pawar, and Madhuchandra Kar have been appointed national vice-presidents. Smriti Irani has taken on the role of national general secretary, while Roop Kumari Chaudhary will lead the BJP Mahila Morcha. Uttar Pradesh stands out for its strong representation of women leaders, including Irani, Verma, and Sangeeta Yadav.
At the general secretary level, six of the eight positions have gone to new entrants, including Smriti Irani, Biplab Deb, Satish Poonia, Gajendra Patel, Harish Dwivedi, and Sanjay Bhatia. Sunil Bansal and Vinod Tawde have been retained, ensuring continuity alongside fresh energy. Meanwhile, B L Santhosh continues as national general secretary (organisation), with Shivprakash and Saudan Singh also holding on to key organisational posts, underscoring the party’s intent to preserve its core structure.
The national secretaries have seen the most extensive overhaul, with 14 of the 16 appointees being new faces. Leaders such as Kavita Patidar, K Surendran, Bhola Singh, and Sangeeta Yadav have been entrusted with greater responsibility, marking a generational shift in the party’s organisational framework.
In financial management, Piyush Goyal returns as national treasurer, combining his ministerial duties with a crucial organisational role. Tarun Chugh has transitioned to national office in-charge, linking him more directly to the party’s headquarters operations.
All seven Morchas– youth, women, OBC, SC, ST, minority, and farmershave received new presidents, reflecting the BJP’s strategy to strengthen outreach across diverse social groups. The media and social media wings have also been restructured, with Deepak Mhaske replacing Amit Malviya as social media convenor and new co-convenors appointed to sharpen digital engagement.
Overall, Nitin Nabin’s reshuffle represents a two-track approach: retaining seasoned organisational anchors while accelerating the rise of new leaders. By combining continuity with change, the BJP aims to reinforce its organisational depth while preparing for future challenges.
