R Madhavan turned his Mumbai home balcony into an organic farm

The actor says it fulfils their family’s 70 percent need for vegetables.

In a recent interview, the actor revealed he turned his Rs 17.5 Crore Mumbai Home Balcony into an Organic Farm in the terrace garden, which meets nearly 70% of his household’s seasonal vegetable needs.

In a 2017 interview with the Times of India, R Madhavan shared that he turned to organic farming when he was working on a script and had extra time at home. He was concerned about modern harvests being grown using chemicals and genetic modifications.

On April 30, 2016, R Madhavan took to Instagram to share a picture from his Mumbai balcony. With a caption, “Harvest from my terrace in Mumbai today. Organic and Sweet.”

For several years, the actor grew a variety of vegetables, including aubergine, lady’s finger, tomatoes, broccoli, cucumbers, and other seasonal crops. He even suggested that everyone should try growing vegetables at home. To stay healthy by eating healthy and organic food.

He researched widely and gradually developed a passion for gardening. His part-time hobby became a crucial part of his everyday routine.

The actor further stated that he uses only one-twentieth of the water typically required through drip irrigation. “Specifically at times like this, when the state is reeling under the effects of a drought, this is a great way to sustain yourself.”
