With multiple remixes being created, is Bollywood running low on new compositions?

Bollywood, known for its music is now more keen on creating remixes of one of the most popular songs. Music composers add on today’s music rhythm with minor or change in lyrics, to enhance the song with a fresh beat. Recently two 90s hit songs – Chunnari Chunnari and Ucha Lamba Kad. The former, originally from the 1999 hit Biwi No. 1 starring Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen, has been reimagined for Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai with Varun Dhawan and Mrunal Thakur. Meanwhile, Welcome to the Jungle has revived Ucha Lamba Kad, a song first popularized by Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in Welcome, now featuring Akshay alongside Disha Patani.

While these releases aim to combine nostalgia with recent flair, though listner has much mixed views.Several fans online articulated disappointment, accusing filmmakers of “ruining” iconic songs rather than creating originaltunes.

Recently, the well-known film maker Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta expressed his view which fan the flames to the conversation with a sharp stake on X. where he talked about each blockbuster from 90s and 2000 is been in recent music creation in the Bollywood, where he questioned on rhetorically: “What will they remix in 2046? The remixes themselves?” His comment struck a chord with audiences who feel Bollywood is stuck in a cycle of recycling rather than innovating.

Where film maker adds on further, posing a hypothetical scenario: what if the industry expelledpreludes, sequels, remakes, and remixes, compellingmakers to rely solely on innovative ideas on music.  He recommended this could either usher in the “best era of Indian cinema” or lead to a cessation within short span of time. Responses from users replicated both optimism and skepticism, prominence the tension between originality and commercial safety.

Where other famous actor like Salman Khan accumulation a lighter touch, the actor recently teased Varun Dhawan at the David Dhawan Film Festival, joking that Varun had “stolen another song” from his master collection. Varun, who has earlier starred in remakes of Salman’s hits like Chalti Hai Kya 9 Se 12 and Oonchi Hai Building, laughed off the remark.

Well, this seems an endless debate emphasizes a larger question: is Bollywood’s is lacing creativity or   celebrating of its musical heritage by remixing.
