It is reported that 50 hospitals in Mumbai received bomb threats over emails the same day threats were received across 41 airports nationwide.
Police authorities remained high on duty as several bomb threats via emails were received in over 50 hospitals in Mumbai. It is also reported that these threats came the same day when bomb threats across 41 airports in the nation, like Patna, Chennai, and Jaipur, were received, which only later turned out to be hoaxes.
More than 50 hospitals in Mumbai receive bomb threats.
Bomb threats were received via email across Mumbai hospitals like Jaslok Hospital, KEM Hospital, JJ Hospital, Raheja Hospital, Seven Hills Hospital, St. George Hospital, and Kohinoor Hospital.
Mumbai police confirm the threatening emails.
Mumbai police have confirmed these threatening emails and said they were sent using a VPN network. However, they also mentioned that the sender’s identity and the motive of the threat are yet unknown.
Hinduja College of Commerce received a similar threat email.
The institute received one such hoax email threatening to blow up Hinduja College of Commerce, as per a report by ANI. ANI also quoted the police saying, “Local police and bomb squad reached the spot and started an investigation, but nothing suspicious was found. Mumbai’s VP Road police station is investigating this matter.”
Threats turned out to be a hoax.
Interestingly, the bomb threats on hospitals were received on the same day that 41 airports, including Jaipur, Chennai, and Patna, received similar threats. This prompted authorities to scramble contingency measures and carry out anti-sabotage checks lasting hours. However, each of these threats was only found to be a hoax.
The emails received by the hospitals and the airports carried almost an identical message, which read, “Hello, there are explosives hidden in the airport. The bombs will soon explode. You all will die.”
