In a tragic incident in Jaipur, a gas tanker crashed, killing eleven people and several others critically injured. The Rajasthan government has announced an aid of ₹5 lakh to the deceased’s next of kin and ₹1 lakh for the injured.

The death toll in the LPG cylinder crash on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway reached 11 on Friday, with the state government saying nearly half of the injured people were “very critical.” The crash ensued a massive fire that engulfed 37 vehicles and nearby buildings. Principal of SMS Medical College, Dr. Deepak Maheshwari, said, “A total of 11 people have died. Five were brought dead to SMS hospital. Five succumbed during treatment. One death was reported from Jaipuria hospital.”

Biju George Joseph, Jaipur police commissioner on the matter, told media that the fire started after the outlet nozzle of the LPG tanker was damaged in the collision, leading to the gas leak. He said, “Vehicles behind the tanker were engulfed in flames. Other vehicles coming from the opposite directions also caught fire, and the vehicles collided.” Dr. Maheshwari said that 43 people were brought to the hospital, seven of whom were on ventilator support.
Eyewitnesses narrated horrifying stories of the accident. Passengers of a bus that caught fire in the accident said they saw several people charred in the blaze.
