A bizarre case has made the headlines, where a woman from Haryana murdered three girls and even drowned his son to avoid suspicion. As per reports, the woman was jealous of the beauty of the threegirls and thus drowned them in water-filled tubs and tanks.

The woman from Haryana, 32, reportedly murdered three girls over the past two years as she developed “hatred for them due to their beauty.” All three victims were related to her, and she even killed her 3-year-old son to avoid suspicion, said police. In all the cases, the woman, identified as Poonam, would drown the victims in water-filled tubs or tanks to pass them off as accidental deaths. Poonam’slatest victim was her six-year-old niece, whom she killed at a family wedding, according to police.

Wedding festivities in Naultha village on Monday soon turned into mourning after a 6-year-old girl was found dead by her family in a storeroom on the first floor of the house, with her face down in a plastic tub filled with water, her head submerged, and her feet outside. Police officials investigated the crime from different angles recently and arrested Poonam, who is the girl’s aunt, on charges of murder. Police told the media, “She followed her to the terrace, spoke to Vidhi, and after having her placed in a plastic tub filled with water outside the storeroom, she drowned Vidhi in the tub, then bolted the door from the outside, and came down.”

Police said that Poonam, in 2023, had drowned her sister-in-law’s 9-year-old daughter in a water tank at home in Bhawar village, Sonipat. Fearing that she might be suspected, she also killed her own 3-year-old son, Shubham. In August 2025, she allegedly drowned her cousin’s 6-year-old daughter in a water tank in Sewah village. Bhupender Singh, Panipat Superintendent of Police, said the woman appears to be a psychopath, as they were told, “Jo sundarbachhiyahainunseinkonafratsihai (she harboured hate for beautiful girls).”
