High alert on the borders of Uttar Pradesh followed after violent clashes in Nepal’s Kathmandu.

Nepal’s Kathmandu and several other cities in Nepal have been facing violentclashes, and the country continues to burn under ‘Gen Z’ protests. The capital city sees a massive number of protesters torching several buildings.

Nepal clashes lead to high alert on UP borders.

The ongoing violent protests in Nepal have led the Uttar Pradesh government to direct the police administration to remain on high alert across all seven border districts with the Himalayan nation. The move comes after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned following days of violent anti-government protests led by young demonstrators against corruption and a controversial social media ban. Rajiv Krishna, Director General of Police (DGP), ordered 24/7 surveillance, intensified patrolling, and the deployment of additional police personnel in Shravasti, Balrampur, Bahraich, Pilibhit, LakhimpurKheri, Siddharthnagar, and Maharajganj.

UP police are committed to maintaining law and order.

ADG (Law & Order) Amitabh Yash said, “The UP Police is fully committed to maintaining law and order in the state and providing all possible assistance to Indian citizens stranded in Nepal.” Authorities confirmed that while the Indo-Nepal border has not been sealed, vigil has been stepped up. Manning the open border, the SashastraSeemaBal (SSB) has intensified patrolling to prevent infiltration of anti-social elements.

The major alert on UP borders is followed by violent clashes in Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu and several other cities, where protestors stormed and torched the Parliament building, the President’s office at ShitalNiwas and the residences of top leaders. Thus far, at least 19 are dead and over 500 are injured in police firing and clashes, as per local media reports.
