At the Padma Bhushan Award Ceremony, R Madhavan was much talked about for the award and his timepiece.
Some lifestyle pieces really carry an aura when you wear them, which makes them unique. Whether it’s a watch, wallet or any other accessories. On June 23rd, the Padma Bhushan Awards were held, during which many people from different fields received the award for their excellent performance. Where R Madhavan also received an award.
But R Madhavan not only came into the limelight for receiving an award, but also for his wrist, which was the rare Titan Nebula Jalsa Flying Tourbillon, a limited-edition watch with only 10 pieces in existence, priced around Rs 40.5 lakh.
Glancing out from beneath his navy-blue sleeves was an astonishing timepiece that blended Indian heritage, artistry, and horological expertise into a single prominent accessory.
The actor was dressed in a sophisticated navy blue bandhgala with identical trousers. Madhavan entered the ceremony with an elegant look. And while the ceremony was definitely a special moment for him, for the watch enthusiasts, another detail stood out.
Though the niceties of the watch are quite remarkable, here’s where it gets interesting: in a rather poetic coincidence, the watch calmed the work of two Padma Shri awardees—one who wore it, the other who tinted it.
The watch is set in an 18K rose gold case, accented with red agate—a gemstone that mirrors the red sandstone architecture of Jaipur—and powered by an in-house flying tourbillon movement developed by Titan. Fashioned from 144 components and featuring 14 jewels, it signifies years of proficiency packed into a remarkably small space.
The actor’s wife and son were present to witness his precious moment. Even though the Padma Shri recognized decades of work on screen and elsewhere, the watch on his wrist seemed to echo the consequence of the moment—a celebration not just of success, but of the long journey that led to it.
