Rohit Sharma files a complaint against Sunil Gavaskar.
Rohit Sharma’s performance during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series attracted criticism from cricket fans and seniors in the cricket fraternity. It also led former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar to criticise Rohit’s approach both as a batsman and a captain. Gavaskar also expressed concerns about Rohit’s absence from the Sydney Test, casting doubts over his future in red-ball cricket, suggesting that it might be time for someone else to take over the captaincy of the team’s betterment. According to reports from Cricblogger, the criticism didn’t sit well with Rohit. Feeling that the scrutiny was unwarranted, he repeatedly approached the BCCI to lodge a formal complaint against Gavaskar. Rohit also mentioned that external circumstances had impacted his performance, leading to a disappointing performance during the tour.
Rohit felt Gavaskar didn’t have to criticise him.
A source close to the matter said, “Rohit felt that it was not necessary for Sunil Gavaskar to criticize him in that fashion, and that’s why he complained to the BCCI about Gavaskar. All these added so much pressure that he was compelled to tell it all to BCCI.”
