The actor’s spiritual accessory echoes devotion, mindfulness, and a deep connection with traditional beliefs.
Sai Pallavi, one of the most venerated stars in Tamil and Telugu cinema, is known not only for her performances but also for her modest lifestyle and strong cultural values. The actor, who will play Goddess Sita in Namit Malhotra’s upcoming Ramayana, has often been seen wearing a jaap mala wrapped around her wrist, drawing consideration from fans and followers.
The sacred beads were once again noticeable during the Ramayana: Pratham Sankalp event in New Delhi, where Sai Pallavi attended in a traditional Kanjivaram saree paired with classic gold jewellery. Her jaap mala, worn on her wrist, stood out as a reflection of her spiritual beliefs rather than a fashion statement.
According to celebrity astrologer and spiritual guide Silky Kukreja, the mala is mostly made of sandalwood, also known as chandan. for which she says, that sandalwood beads are traditionally associated with calmness, mindfulness, and devotion. Instead of being worn as jewellery, they serve as a reminder to remain spiritually aware and connected to the divine.
The Jaap mala is consists of 108 beads. In Sanatan Dharma, the number 108 is regarded as sacred, representing spiritual completeness and the unity of creation. Even mantras are chanted 108 times, believed to improve concentration, deepen devotion, and encourage inner growth. The number is also linked to the 108 Upanishads and the many names of Hindu deities.
Kukreja further noted that Rudraksha malas always have a special value in the Hindu tradition. These sacred beads are commonly worn around the neck, wrist, or arm by those seeking protection, emotional balance, and spiritual discipline.
For massive devotees, a jaap mala is not just an accessory. It symbolises the devotee’s faith, self-discipline, and a constant reminder to stay centred. Sai Pallavi’s choice to wear one replicates her spiritual outlook and admiration for enduring traditions.
