An unexpected visitor during training.
The incident reportedly occurred on May 21 during a three-day training programme for teachers involved in upcoming census-related work in Gujarat’s Dang district. According to reports, the video was shared online by Gaurang Patel, a teacher from Waghai Secondary School who was attending the session at the time. In the footage, teachers are seen quietly seated in the training hall as the session proceeds. Suddenly, the monkey, locally known as a “Kapiraj,” calmly walks into the room as if it belongs there. For a few seconds, confusion spread across the hall. Some teachers looked visibly shocked, while others immediately burst into laughter at the bizarre sight. What made the moment even more amusing was the monkey’s relaxed behaviour. Instead of creating chaos, the animal quietly moved around the room, observing people and casually exploring the hall. After spending nearly five minutes inside the hall, it calmly walked out and returned to the nearby forest.
Many social media users found humour in the situation, joking that the monkey had arrived to “attend census duty” or participate in the teachers’ workshop. Others pointed out how the incident reflected the unique relationship between humans and wildlife in regions surrounded by forests, where nature remains an active part of everyday life.
