Ukraine’s drone strikes leave 7 dead, dozens injured in Russia.

Overnight attacks target warehouses, oil depots, and infrastructure as Kyiv intensifies pressure on Moscow.

In one of the most significant overnight assaults of the war, Ukrainian drones struck multiple sites across Russia, killing seven people and injuring 51 others. The strikes, which hit deep inside Russian territory, underscore Kyiv’s strategy of targeting logistical and energy infrastructure to disrupt Moscow’s war effort and bring the conflict’s impact closer to ordinary Russians.

Authorities confirmed that two large warehouses belonging to Wildberries, Russia’s leading online retailer, were among the primary targets. One facility in Kotovsk, located in the Tambov region about 360 kilometers from Ukraine’s border, suffered the heaviest casualties, with seven night-shift workers killed and 25 injured. Another warehouse in Elektrostal, roughly 50 kilometers east of Moscow, left 24 people wounded.

Additional strikes caused fires at an oil depot in Noginsk, north of Elektrostal, injuring two people and forcing the evacuation of a maternity hospital and nearby residential buildings. In Vladimir, a city 180 kilometers east of Moscow, a drone hit a residential building, sparking a brief blaze but resulting in no casualties.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the attacks, stating that long-range strikes had destroyed “significant logistical facilities” in both the Moscow and Tambov regions. He emphasized that these sites were being used to supply sanctioned components for drone and navigation equipment. Zelenskyy also noted that Ukrainian special operations targeted assets in the Sea of Azov and occupied territories, further expanding the scope of the campaign.

Russian officials reported that air defenses intercepted 379 drones across 19 regions, including Crimea, the Azov Sea, and the Black Sea. Despite these interceptions, the scale of the attacks highlights Ukraine’s growing ability to strike far beyond the frontlines.

The overnight strikes mark another escalation in Ukraine’s aerial offensive, which has increasingly focused on energy hubs, warehouses, and military-linked infrastructure. By hitting targets near Moscow and other major cities, Kyiv aims to undermine Russia’s logistical networks while signaling to civilians that the war’s consequences are unavoidable.

As the conflict enters its fifth year, these attacks illustrate Ukraine’s determination to sustain pressure on Russia’s economy and military supply chains, even as Moscow continues its own wave of retaliatory strikes.
