A tragic incident made the headlines on Sunday, where a vehicle carrying 11 people plunged into a canal in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh. Among the 11, three were children who lost their lives. Chief Minister of UP, Yogi Adityanath, has announced financial aid of ₹5 lakh for the deceased.

Eleven people were killed in the accident as their vehicle plunged into a canal in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh. The car carried devotees who fell into the Saryu canal. Four others were also injured in the accident after a 4-wheeler lost control and fell into the canal, said the police. The vehicle, carrying a total of 15 people, was on its way to the Pirthvinath Temple when the accident occurred near the Moorganj police station on the Seehgaon-Kharagoopur road in Gonda.

Local residents informed the police about the accident. The bodies were then recovered from the Saryu canal, and the deceased were identified. CM Adityanath expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and directed administration officials to provide immediate medical care to the injured at the hospital.
The police have now also launched an investigation into the matter to determine the cause of the accident.
