One of the owners of Punjab Kings, actor Preity Zinta, has reacted on her team captain Shreyas Iyer losing out on making a ton in his first IPL match this season. The match played between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Gujarat Titans (GT) saw the excellence and leadership of Shreyas Iyer as a player and captain of PBKS. The match, which was held on Tuesday, saw PBKS emerging as winners.

Punjab’s captain, Shreyas Iyer, was controversially left stranded three runs short of his century in his debut for the franchise. His teammate Shashank Singh copped criticism for ‘robbing’ Iyer of the opportunity. However, Preity Zinta weighed in on Iyer’s performance. She took a picture of the game’s players to share on social media. Punjab defeated Gujarat on the back of Iyer’s innings. Iyer also won the Player of the Match. Congratulating both the team and him on X, Preity Zinta wrote, “What an incredible start to this tournament. Some 97’s are better than a hundred. Shashank Singh belted 23 runs off the over but didn’t give Iyer the strike to complete his century, which angered the fans. However, the batter later revealed that Iyer instructed him to go all out and “not worry about his hundred.”
