VaibhavSooryavanshi, this season of IPL, as well, showcased his A-game on the field, increasing his chances of becoming a part of the India team.

Even the opponents in IPL cannot stop from praising the 15-year-old cricketing prodigy, VaibhavSooryavanshi, who showcased his prowess on the field as the opening batsman for Rajasthan Royals (RR). Though RR is now out of the final race, the youngster has made a special place in the hearts of fans, critics, cricket veterans, and other players. Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper Shubman Gill was also all praise for Sooryavanshi.

Gill calls Sooryavanshi “one of the best batters in the world.”

Gill described Sooryavanshi’s season as nothing short of remarkable and praised not only his power-hitting but also the maturity behind his batting. While addressing the media, Gill said, “I haven’t seen many players bat like this.” He added, “At this moment, he is one of the best batters in the world. It’s not just about the sixes and boundaries. His batting mechanics, hand speed and ability to adapt against different oppositions are incredible.” What has further impressed Gill was the youngster’s temperament. According to the Gujarat skipper, Sooryavanshi showed an unusual level of composure for someone so young, especially after losing momentum during crucial phases of the innings. Gill noted, “He keeps finding ways to come back into the game and put pressure on the opposition. That tells you a lot about his mindset. I think teams will have a very tough time playing against him in the years ahead.”

VaibhavSooryavanshi broke several tournament records.

Sooryavanshi’s numbers this season have been staggering. The Rajasthan Royals opener finished IPL 2026 with 776 runs in 16 matches, averaging over 48 while maintaining a strike rate above 200. His performances helped him break several tournament records, including becoming the youngest player to cross the 1,000-run mark in IPL history. He also surpassed the long-standing record of former West Indies star Chris Gayle for the most sixes in a single IPL season. Earlier in his IPL journey, he had already announced himself to the cricketing world by smashing a century off just 35 balls against the Gujarat Titans during the 2025 season.

Rajasthan Royals captain RiyanParag also spoke highly of him even after his team’s elimination from the tournament. Parag highlighted that Sooryavanshi’s success is not merely the result of aggressive hitting. Instead, he credited the youngster’s ability to read conditions, assess bowlers, and pace his innings accordingly. “People see the big shots, but there’s so much more behind them,” Parag said. “He calculates, understands the game and makes smart decisions. That’s what makes him special.” The RR skipper also expressed hope that Sooryavanshi would go on to represent India at the highest level and continue contributing to the Rajasthan Royals in the years to come.
